What is a Message Service ID?

 Any message that is successfully created using Twilio's API has a specific ID called the Message Service ID. For text messages, it begins with "SM..." and for media messages, it starts with "MM...".

What is a Message Sender ID?

Your company name or brand is used as the Message Sender ID in one-way SMS messages sent to supported countries as an alphanumeric sender ID. Up to 11 characters may be used in a Message Sender ID. 

Facts about Message Sender ID - 

  1. Instead of just numbers, Message Sender IDs may also contain upper and lowercase Ascii letters, the numbers from 0 to 9, and the space character.
  2. Many nations that do support Message Sender IDs require you to register your Message Sender ID before using it. However, not all of them do.
  3. Here is a list of nations that accept Message Sender IDs, along with details on each nation's prerequisites for pre-registration. 
  4. Your Twilio Messaging Service will set your Message Sender ID as the From parameter to deliver your message when you send an SMS to a supported country. When you send an SMS to a country where Message Sender IDs are not supported, Twilio will use a regular phone number from your messaging service.
  5. Also, Message Sender IDs can be added from here to a Messaging Service.

Which Will Be Shown For Incoming Messages?

While using the “Twilio Extension for Zoho CRM”, both Message Sender SID and Message Service ID can be used for sending messages/SMS.

However, Message Sender IDs won’t be shown for incoming messages, whereas Message Service IDs will be shown for incoming messages. 

Where Can I Find the Message Sender ID?

First, you need to register your Message Sender ID through an online form. Also, you need to make sure the Message Sender ID feature is enabled.

To find your Message Sender ID - 

  1. Login to your project at www.twilio.com/console.
  2. In the left-side navigation bar, click Programmable SMS.
  3. Click on Settings.
  1. Your Message Sender ID/Alphanumeric Sender ID will be there.

Where Can I Find the Message Service ID?

The Message Service ID for a specific message can be found by checking your Messaging logs in the Console or by sending an API request to the Messages List Resource.

To find the SID for a particular message in the messaging logs of your project. Log into your Twilio project, choose the "Messaging" product, and go to - 

Logs >> Messaging

To view the details page for a particular message, click on the message of interest.

The first item displayed is the message SID:
